It’s time to be true to yourself and to stop blaming others for your results. Could it be that your current results are but a reflection of the quality of your decisions and actions? I say absolutely yes! It is also possible that your current earnings are a result of the value you bring to the marketplace or the quality of your service offering.
This above all, to thine own self be true – William Shakespeare
Most of the results you are getting are because you are not living in harmony with your true self. A lot of times we lie to ourselves. We are not real and deceive ourselves regarding the results we are getting. Some speak about one day, things will change or one day I will do this and that. Your one day starts today. Every single one of your today's is adding up to your one day. If you want a different one day or tomorrow, it starts with your doing things differently and right today. Today is what you have because you are not sure of your tomorrow.
I was once in a seminar and the facilitator said that if you want to know how well you are doing financially, don’t look very far, just check your bank balance and your net worth. If you want to know how well you are doing in your health, check how much energy you have on a daily basis. When you want to know how well you are doing in your business, check your profits or the balance sheet, and perhaps when you want to know how good you are in a relationship, ask your spouse or significant other. You see, results don’t lie! Being true to yourself is about stopping to a people-pleaser. Pleasing people is a full-time job. If you are concerned about what people think and about what people say about you, then you are not going to make it. Focus on your dream one million percent and be true to yourself.
When your results show that you are not hitting the mark, suck it up, be true to yourself, take personal responsibility, and change direction. To live the life you imagine, you have to shut out the noises and focus on where you want to go. You have too many distractions around you clouding your perspectives and reality. In order to be successful in designing the life you want, you must work on you by being true to yourself. You know who you truly are, don’t you? You know what you are doing or not doing right, so stop doing those things and start focusing on doing the things that will help you achieve your goals. Be true to yourself because you are the only one who can stop what you are doing to be you!
To be true to yourself means listening to advice but making decisions based on what will serve your interest. Make up your own mind, recognize your uniqueness, and use it to your advantage. Don’t try to be like somebody else; you are not a photocopy. Stand up for what you truly believe, and don’t be a crowd pleaser. The shakers and movers of our world made up their minds and took action based on their beliefs. If the Wright brothers had listened to their father or others, airplanes would not be part of our transportation system today. If Henry Ford had listened to his engineer, who said that it couldn’t be done, Ford motor vehicles would not be in operation today. If Steve Jobs or Bill Gates had listened to the critics, computers would not be changing our world. Being true to yourself frees you to explore your full potential, test your ideas, and live the life you imagine.
