There is power in your focus. Doing too many things and feeling good that you are busy may serve your ego but not moving you in the direction of your dreams. Your level of focus and what you devote your time and energy will define or determine how successful you will be today and tomorrow. A lack of focus or broken focus is the main reason for failure in life. When you hear yourself saying things like I am bored, life is not interesting, I am stuck, I don’t know what to do, what you are saying is that you have a broken focus or lack focus in the first place. Pause for a minute and ask yourself these questions - what is my dominant point of focus? Is what I am focused on leading me to where I want to go? When I continue to focus on these things, how will my future look like?
Aim your thoughts on what you want and off the things you don’t want. Aim at the bull’s eye and stop wasting time on less valuable things. Apply the 80/20 rule that 80% of your results will come from 20% of your focused area. Don’t go chasing after everything, aim at the 20%. When you aim at what you want with all your energy and have developed a strategy to execute, you will have massive success. Aiming at what you want and not taking concrete action is a waste of time. You cannot hit a target that you have not set. A successful life begins with knowing precisely what you want. In my leadership and success seminars to young people, I usually ask what they want to become. I get vague answers like ‘I want to be successful’, ‘I want to make more money’, ‘I want to help people’, and so on. Others say they want to be a doctor, teacher, pilot and others. Clarity of the target is very important in achieving massive success. Clarity brings focused energy, time and resources to bear on what you want. It’s time to focus, aim, and hit! “It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light.” – Aristotle Onassis
When you are going through the storms or challenges of life, you may not see clearly; you may tell yourself the wrong stories, nurturing and enabling wrong beliefs, doubting yourself and your capacity to achieve. When the storm rages on, rest if you must, pause if you must but don’t take your eyes off your target and focus. Remember no situation is permanent, I have come to like the statement “This too shall pass” Everything has a time-frame and the storm will pass. Trust me, I have gone through series of storms and I can tell you without any reservation whatsoever that the storms have made me better and not bitter! Keep your focus in the storm. Hit your target in spite of the storm. Allow the storms to inspire you to keep moving and keep achieving. You may not like the storms but it could be just what you needed at this time to shake you up from the comfort zone, mediocrity and self-imposed limitations. Learn to focus your mind like a laser.
See you at the pinnacle of success!
