Why are you not achieving your goals and fulfilling your mission in life? Why are you not as successful as you wish to be? Is it a lack of training or education? Did other people just have better opportunities or lucky breaks than you had? For things to change you have to stop coming up with justification for your current state and take full responsibility for your actions. It’s not about the conditions you find yourself in, because others have had the same conditions and have been very successful. It is like kids from the same family who had the same opportunity to grow and develop, yet after a certain age, some become successful, others are just surviving, and others are living a life of poverty. It is, therefore, not the conditions, but rather taking action and disciplining yourself to do the things you have to do that separates the achievers from those getting by.
Excuses are stealing and eating away your future one excuse at a time!
When you eliminate the need to explain your shortcomings or failures, you’ll come alive and awaken your dreams! In his book Excuses be Gone, Dr. Wayne Dyer provided the following excuses people give for inaction. If any of these excuses apply to you then do something about it. Some of the excuses include: “…it will be difficult, it’s going to be risky, it will take a long time, I don’t deserve it, I can’t afford it, it’s not in my nature, no one will help me, it has never happened before, I am not strong enough, I am not smart enough, I am too old or not old enough, the rules won’t let me, it’s too big, I don’t have the energy, it’s in my personal history, I am too busy, I am too scared.” What are your excuses? Spend a few minutes and reflect on your personal excuses. The following questions should help you in your reflection: what excuses are holding you back? Is the excuse true or a figment of your imagination? Where did the excuse come from? What are you getting as a result of the excuse or what purpose is the excuse serving? How will your life be different if you let go these excuses? If you were to do all the things you wanted to do without excuses, what will the movie of your life look like?
Newton's First Law of Motion states that a body at rest will remain at rest unless an outside force acts on it, and a body in motion at a constant velocity will remain in motion in a straight line unless acted upon by an outside force. When you act on your excuses and let go of those excuses, you begin a life of freedom and start to use your inner powers and resources to achieve your goals and fulfill your potential.
"Often, when we are about to break out of our comfort zone, we experience fear, and that is a non-resourceful state, because it blocks us from achieving results." – Unknown
Tony Robins teaches that as humans we need to feel safe, and sometimes when we push ourselves out of our comfort zone, we leave the state of certainty – and it can get uncomfortable. We ask ourselves questions like: Am I going to be able to do this? What if I get hurt? What if I embarrass myself? But we also thrive when we have a challenge in our life, and we want to find a way to dance in between certainty and uncertainty. The person with no excuses is the one who will rise, evolve, develop, and grow into the person they were destined to be. The benefits of letting go of excuses includes: you can now create the movie of your life being successful, living the life you have imagined; running that successful business, having the financial freedom to do all the things you want to do without thinking about money, providing for your family with a lot more left to give, and being available to make a contribution to causes you believe in.
