Every day you have the opportunity to design the life you want and live the life you imagine. You don’t have all the time in the world. You have a finite amount of time. Everybody does. How you use your day will contribute towards the life you want or it will take away from that life. When you truly know that you have a finite amount of time, you will never treat time the way you have done in the past or are currently using it. Time wasted will never be recovered in the history of your life. It is gone and gone for good. We all have a limited time to walk this earth, so how can we use it effectively to achieve the goals we have set for our lives? Make every day count and use it wisely. Don’t waste your time, because life is short! Your success is hidden in your daily routine!
Man is a success when he gets up in the morning and goes to bed at night. And in between, does what he wants. – Bob Dylan
Take a deeper look at how you spend your day and make an objective assessment of how you use your time. Are you happy with the way you spend each day? Are you in control of your day or your day is controlling you? By this I mean are you just flowing with the things the day brings, or are you intentional in the way you spend the day? Your present state in life is not by accident. What you have accomplished in your life and all the opportunities you have missed are your own creation. I have family members who are barely surviving because they do not effectively use their days.
Every single day equals your future!
When I joined my high school alumni on that group chat platform, I read through the various chats. It was evident that the majority of my classmates had not gone very far in life after graduating. It appeared that many of my mates were just surviving. Some spent most of the day discussing trivial things and posting materials that were a complete waste of time to read. What had happened to these people? What really went wrong? I believe it was first and foremost what they did every single day and the neglect of not evaluating the day. Nikola Tesla said, “Let the future tell the truth, and evaluate each one according to his work and accomplishments. The present is theirs; the future, for which I have really worked, is mine.” Are you where you want to be when you evaluate your life? Are you getting the results you want? Are you living the life you imagine and are you designing the life you want? What you do every single day is very important. When you plan your day, perform the tasks and activities in your plan, and evaluate your accomplishments for the day, you are setting yourself up for success.
Your success is in your daily routine
Show me the way you spend your day, week, or month and I will predict your future with a good degree of accuracy. Your results will always mimic what you do on a daily basis. This is why it is very important to not let the day go by without doing something towards your dreams. Are you happy with the future your daily routines are creating? Are you satisfied with where your habit of doing certain things is taking you? The secret of your future is hidden in what you do on a daily basis. Just think about it for a minute. What you are working on and doing every day is contributing to the future you will create. You can predict your own future or create it by what you do on a daily basis. Success is a definite science and how you spend the day holds the clue to your present results. Poor results come from broken focus! What future are you creating every single day? What is your default habit of activities every single day? What is your daily routine?
The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine – Mike Murdock
Every single habit repeated daily is taking you somewhere. The question is will you be happy with the somewhere you are headed? Jim Rohn defined success and failure this way: “Success is a few simple disciplines practiced every day while failure is a few errors in judgment repeated every day.” Are you engaged in the proper daily disciplines that will take you to where you want to go in the future? Take a few minutes right now to reflect on your daily habits. Put the book down and just reflect on how you are spending your day. Be brutally honest with yourself; is the way you are spending your day taking you to where you want to go? If you continue in the same manner where will you arrive at in one year, three years, five or ten years?
Poor results come from broken focus!
If the movie of your life is not looking good, then I suggest you make changes right away. Create a sense of urgency around designing the life you want and start making adjustments in the way you spend the day. Everything you do, no matter how small, has a consequence and don’t you kid yourself to think that whatever you are doing is trivial in the grand scheme of things. Some neglects or errors in judgment are very subtle and it can take years for the damage to show up in your life. However, make no mistake about this, it will always show up. It all aligns with the iron law of cause and effect. The effects or results in your life come from causes like errors in judgment repeated over a long period. When you intentionally refine your daily routines in alignment with your goals and the life you imagine, the benefits will show up in your life.
Don’t surrender your life to instant gratification and the feel-good stuff. Split- second decisions for self-gratification will hurt your chances of designing the life you want. Great achievers have success routines they follow in great detail. You must develop a daily rhythm that is focused on the things you want and make sure you execute flawlessly on those things. Successful people simply have great habits. What you are doing on a daily basis is creating your future, whether you know it or not. Develop the habit and discipline of daily doing the things that will ultimately bring you to the life you imagine. Not achieving the life you imagine will not be because of the challenges, obstacles, and issues of life, but rather because of broken focus and the wrong things you are focusing on daily.
